Tuesday, August 16th, the Middle School group will be heading up to Wild Waves theme park for the day! Loads of rides and tons of water! You won't want to miss out on this trip!

Be at the church at 8 am, we'll be leaving before 9. We'll be back around 10 pm.
Cost is $35. Bring a sack lunch or money for lunch at the park, we’ll provide dinner. Please wear a modest swim suit and don’t forget a towel and sunscreen.

Our Student Ministries High School Students will be putting on the Summer Clubs VBS 2011 June 27th - July 1st, 6-7:30 pm @ Good Shepherd Community Church, for 4 year olds up to 5th graders.

High School Students
You’ll play games, do skits, sing songs, read bible stories, give out prizes and snacks, and generally have an all around great time bringing God’s word to kids in the community.

High School Students, please be at church by 5 pm to help set up and prepare for the evening. We’ll be done around 8:30.

In-Town Summer Clubs are mandatory in order to participate the Out of Town Clubs.

But before you can do that you gotta get Summer Clubs VBS training.

Training is mandatory for ANYONE that wants to participate in any of our Summer Clubs.

Out of Town Clubs
We will be partnering with churches and ministries in Utah, Montana,
and California and helping them reach their communities.

Only students who have been trained and helped with our In-Town Summer Clubs will be able to participate.

Each trip costs $350 (which includes a $40 non-refundable deposit)

More information will come once you’ve been placed on one of the teams. You may contact the Student Ministries office at Good Shepherd Community Church if you have any questions or concerns.

The Student Ministries Senior Banquet will be on June 8th at 6 pm. This is a time for us and your families to come together and celebrate you! We'll have dinner, dessert and just a fun time hanging out!

The banquet will be held at Good Shepherd Community Church and will cost $3 per person.

FEBRUARY = DUNES

DUNES will be February 18-21, so mark those calendars.

AND with DUNES costing $165 again, you should get a move on and start filling those piggy banks with your left over change from lunch, ask about doing extra chores, offer your neighbors a low cost lawn raking, or even write a letter to those far away family members. Whatever you gotta do, git 'er dun! Don't miss out on this amazing weekend! It's gonna be awesome!

Online registration for DUNES here. Also, the online registration cut off date will be Sunday night, February 13th. We need a good headcount at that point so that our wonderful cooks can make sure we have enough delicious food for everyone going to DUNES. You may come in to the Student Ministries office Monday or Tuesday to sign up...however, if you wait till Wednesday, February 16, to sign up you'll be out another $20 bucks...cost goes up for late sign-ups. Please do it early and on time!.

Also, we understand that the economy is not so great these days and that times are tough for families. If there are concerns about the cost of the retreat please call the church and Tabitha will work with you on a payment plan. We don’t want any student to miss out on this awesome opportunity so please don’t let the cost be the reason you choose not to come.

LOST RETREAT - no longer...

Yep, that's right. If you signed up for the LOST retreat that was happening this coming weekend then you've probably already heard the sad news...it's been canceled.

Unfortunately, we did not meet the camps minimum number of students. In order to be good stewards of our budget we could not cover the remaining balance for students that had not signed up. We are so very sorry that it had to come to this and at this late hour. We tried to give it as much time as possible and let those last minute sign-ups come in that usually do...but they didn't...so we were forced to make this tough decision (that was no fun, I might add).

For those who did sign up and pay already, don't worry, we will be issuing everyone refund checks as soon as possible (aka. next week).

Also, in lieu of this retreat, we will be having an all night event at Good Shepherd Community Church Friday, November 19th. More information on that to come ASAP!!! AND it will be quite a bit cheaper. :)

(this is basic, a place to start, an idea of what your child will need. If you don't see something on this list that you believe your child should bring along for the weekend, by all means pack it in the suitcase):

Also, one thing we forgot to add in the letter that was sent out about the SALT Retreat was where we'd be staying. Oops! Slipped right past us. So to ease all the parents minds, the retreat will be at Son Lodge in Welches.

Things to Remember:
1. Students need to be at the church between 9 and 9:30 am Saturday morning (August 28th).
2. Students MUST have a signed permission slip to attend this retreat. Shouldn't be too hard since everyone received on in the mail. Just to clarify, I did say "must" already, right? Oh good, because I meant it. Students MUST have a signed permission slip to step foot on that shuttle. :)
3. Cost is $100. If that is going to be a problem, please call Tabitha at the church office (503.663.5050, x.246) to work something out.
4. Students will be back at the church around noon time Monday, August 30th.

SALT RETREAT!!!!

We are having our annual SALT Invitational Leaders Retreat coming up the last weekend of August, Saturday the 28th to Monday the 30th. This retreat is an invite only retreat for Juniors and Seniors. We can't wait to spend some time up on the mountain with everyone, boating and digging into the word and worshiping together. This will hopefully be a great time to connect with everyone and get excited about reaching our campuses for Jesus. Well just in case you weren't sure entirely sure, Jr. High will not be meeting during the month of August. That means that we will not be having our regular Tuesday night gatherings or our weekend classes. We will start again on Tuesday, September 7th.
